2021 WGC Match Play pairings: Groups and tee times
American Dustin Johnson, who is ranked No. 1 in the world and thus seeded first for this week’s WGC Match Play, has drawn No. 28 Kevin Na, No. 41 Robert MacIntyre and No. 61 Adam Long in his grouping, according to pairings announced Monday by the PGA Tour.
The 64-man event, which begins Wednesday at Austin Country Club in Texas’ capital, will feature 16 four-man groups for round-robin matches during the first three days. The winners of each group will advance to the Round of 16 for the weekend, with single-elimination matches beginning Saturday. The final match is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
Johnson enters the Match Play as the No. 1-seeded player for the fourth consecutive time. He won the 2017 title against Jon Rahm, 1 up. The tournament was canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Defending champion Kevin Kisner, who won the 2019 Match Play title as the No. 48 seed, will be part of No. 2-seeded Justin Thomas’ group, with No. 22 Louis Oosthuizen and No. 52 Matt Kuchar. Kisner defeated Kuchar, the 2013 champion, in the 2019 finale, 3 and 2.
