The PGA Tour and LIV Golf stunned the golf world on Tuesday when they announced they would be merging to unify men’s professional golf

The two sides, of course, have been battling over the past year or so since the Saudi-funded league started buying up big-name players from the PGA Tour, moves that strongly hurt the PGA Tour and put its future very much in jeopardy.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan, who has fans calling for his job after Tuesday's news, often spoke about how players going to LIV Golf should check their morals and think about the families impacted by the 9/11 attacks who have spoken out against the Saudi-funded league.

Twelve months ago he went on CBS during the final round of the Canadian Open (which takes place this week) and got emotional talking about those families:

“I think you’d have to be living under a rock to not know there are significant implications and as it relates to the families of 9/11—I have two families that are close to me that lost loved ones,” Moynahan said. “So, my heart goes out to them. And I would, ask any player that has left or any player that would ever consider leaving— have you ever had to apologize for being a member of the PGA Tour?”

Now Monahan is in business with LIV Golf and the financial backers of the league, because apparently money talks.

Golf fans crushed him over that interview:
