When Kevin Kisner made his debut as an analyst for NBC last weekend at The Sentry, it was only a matter of time before he made a comment that would set the Internet ablaze.

“I’m going to tell you exactly like it is all the time,” Kisner told Sports Illustrated before making his TV debut. “That’s kind of how I roll.”

When that moment arrived, the comment in question happened to be about Jordan Spieth.

After mulling over a three-foot putt on Saturday at Kapalua for quite some time, Kisner aptly noted from the booth that Spieth doesn’t expend nearly as much energy on 25-foot lag putts, which are a strength in his game.

“If I were to help him, I’d tell him to speed it up a little bit on these ones,” he said. “He knows how to make these.”

So when the short putt ultimately lipped out—causing some audible frustration from Spieth—Kisner pounced: “It’s three feet Jordan, just knock it in, bud.” Golf Twitter absolutely ate it up.

Spieth might not have been watching the broadcast to hear Kisner’s brutally honest reaction, but he found out about it eventually—from the rookie commentator himself.

“Yeah, he actually came up to me and told me the shots he was taking at my while I was warming up on Sunday, which is like, 101, don’t do that,” Spieth said, speaking on SiriusXM PGA Tour radio on the Gravy & The Sleeze show with Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz.

“I was like you’re a d--k. Please leave,” he joked.

Spieth shares a close relationship with Kisner off the course, and apparently, he was mentally prepared to get some heat from the Aiken, S.C., native in the booth.

“I know I’m going to be on the receiving end of some with Kiz,” he said. “I know it’s just love from him.”

But Spieth couldn’t end his interview with Knost and Stoltz without giving some back to Kisner. When the hosts mentioned Kisner’s age—39—Spieth was taken aback.

“He’s only 39?” Spieth said. “That’s shocking to me. I’m way off in my head. [I thought he was] definitely at least mid 40’s.”
