Justin Thomas might not have had his best week at the PGA Championship—he finished 12 over par for the tournament—but he was still in a light enough mood Sunday afternoon to give a young fan an incredibly generous gift after his final hole.

Coming off the 18th green at Oak Hill, Thomas promptly headed to turn in his card of a 2-over 72, but while doing so, he pulled his 60-degree wedge out of his bag.

Thomas then targeted one lucky young spectator and handed him the club.

The kid’s reaction said it all. His jaw dropped to the floor and he immediately looked over his shoulder to see if his mom saw what had just occurred, and of course she did. The fan kindly posed for a photo with his new memento from the 2023 PGA Championship, which will likely end up in a frame on his bedroom wall.

The best part of the interaction, however, came with a little bit of context from Thomas’s caddie, Jim “Bones” Mackay. Walking off the 18th green, Mackay noted to Barstool’s Dan Rapaport and Sports Illustrated that Thomas wouldn’t need that wedge after this week.

The grooves on the club had been totally destroyed by Oak Hill’s treacherous bunkers and, upon further examination, it appears that Thomas was in 12 of them this week.
