LIV Golfers Were Not Hiding Their Team Logos at All Monday at the Masters
LIV golfers are teeing it up at the Masters this week—18 of them, to be exact—and they’re sporting their various team logos on Augusta National property. Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Sergio Garcia, and Talor Gooch were just some of the LIV members who were spotted wearing their logos during the Monday practice rounds.
Prior to the week, it was unclear whether members of the Saudi-backed league would wear branded gear at the revered major championship venue. According to The Telegraph, the contingent of LIV players at Augusta collectively decided to avoid wearing the “LIV” emblem “out of respect to the tournament.”
However, many players on the breakaway tour no longer have apparel sponsors and will be wearing their individual LIV team logos on their shirts and hats.
At the 2022 BMW PGA Championship, the commissioner of the DP World Tour specifically asked LIV players to not wear branded apparel from the team-format league.
On Monday, Johnson was asked about how many players will be sporting the LIV gear.
“Whoever wears them,” Johnson said. “Yeah, I mean, I’m just going to wear the Aces.”
Indeed, the Masters champion was seen wearing a polo shirt with the 4Aces GC team logo embroidered on his right chest. Johnson is the captain of the 4Aces, and the squad won the LIV Team Championship last season. Pat Perez, Peter Uihlein and fellow Masters champion Patrick Reed are also members of the team.
Sergio Garcia sported his Fireballs GC team logo alongside Talor Gooch, who is a member of Bubba Watson’s Rangegoats GC.
Bryson DeChambeau also was out and about on Monday, wearing the Crushers GC logo on his white half-zip.
