HERTFORDSHIRE, England – The LIV Golf League is announcing a change to its schedule today that will see it play its season-ending Team Championship event in Miami rather than Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The original schedule had the LIV Golf Miami event at Doral as the 13th of 14 events this year, with Jeddah as the finale.

The Saudi Arabia tournament was originally scheduled for Nov. 1-3 but now will be played Oct. 13-15 at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia.

Jeddah will be the last regular-season event, which will settle the individual title and finalize seeding for the team event.

The Miami event will be played the following week, Oct. 20-23, with a combination of match play and stroke play to determine the overall team winner for the season.

“We’re thrilled to return to the Blue Monster at Doral to celebrate a historic year and crown the 2023 LIV Golf League team champion,” said Greg Norman, commissioner of the LIV Golf League, in a statement. “The team concept has come to life this year in exciting new ways as our players and fans embrace the launch of team golf. We’re building up for an action-packed weekend with headline entertainment that will put an exclamation point on another can’t-miss LIV Golf event.”

The Miami tournament was one of LIV Golf’s most popular last year and led to questions as to why it wasn’t going to be staged again as the season-ending tournament, especially given the low attendance at the tournaments in Saudi Arabia.

LIV executives had been working throughout this year to make the switch and have now made it official.

At the conclusion of the regular season in Jeddah, the top three players in a season-long points race with be rewarded with bonuses. Last year, Dustin Johnson was the top player and earned $17 million.

The 12 teams will also be seeded for the season-ending event a week later, with $16 million going to the winning team. The top four teams will receive a first-round bye.
