Let the countdown begin. There are just 20 days until the tee times commence at Augusta National and that means one thing: It’s time for the Masters marketing team to release its expertly crafted and goosebump-inducing hype videos.

On Friday, the Masters social media accounts shared the first of this year’s pre-tournament video teasers, and fans were all over the post, making it go viral on multiple platforms.

The short-form video featured vintage Tiger Woods highlights and iconic Jim Nantz sound bites, but it also had a fresh look and feel that many viewers attributed to the tournament’s effort to appeal to a new generation.

Upbeat music accompanied shots of stylish young people enjoying a Masters viewing party, equipped with trendy Augusta-themed clothing and decorative pimento cheese sandwich platters.

A garden gnome dressed in a Masters caddie bib even made an appearance, as did an exploding golf ball. Legends of the game such as Jack Nicklaus and Nick Faldo were presented alongside current superstars like Rory McIlroy and the tournament’s defending champion, Scottie Scheffler.

The caption read: “It’s not just golf, it’s the Masters. #BringYourBest.”

Although just 45 seconds long, the video demonstrated a new approach to promotional content by the Masters social media team. In year’s past, beloved hype videos have featured suspenseful tunes and serene moments from Augusta National’s hallowed grounds. This year’s first snippet upheld Masters tradition, but in a cool, youthful way—and fans were here for it.
