Michael Block Got the Coolest Text Message From Michael Jordan After Magical PGA Championship

The California club professional can't keep up with all the congratulatory texts but had to respond to this one.

Michael Block is still walking on clouds after his incredible week at the PGA Championship, where the club professional finished T15 punctuated by a Sunday afternoon hole in one.

And as one might imagine, he's hearing from everyone

"There's a lot going on, and I really apologize to all my friends and fans and PGA members out there that have texted me. I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you. I literally scroll and scroll and scroll, and it's never ending," Block said on Tuesday at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, where he received a sponsor's invitation thanks to his play at Oak Hill in Rochester, N.Y.

But one text got him to stop scrolling: Michael Jordan's.

The Hall of Famer and certified golf fanatic texted "something in the way that what he saw is why he loves the game of golf so much," Block said.

"I mean, getting a text from Michael Jordan today ... I'm a big Jordan guy my whole life. I was a little kid in Iowa saving 100 bucks for a pair of Jordans back in the day. Pretty darn cool, to say the least."

A reporter asked if that text got a response.

"Oh, yeah," Block said. "I told him that I just want to be in one of his 36-hole games."

Block, whose day job is head golf professional at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo, Calif., is hoping for more than 36 holes this week at historic Colonial Country Club. He tees off at 2:28 p.m. local time Thursday alongside Min Woo Lee and University of Texas standout Pierceson Coody and is sure to have one of the largest galleries following along.

Until then, he's continuing to ride the crazy wave of attention.

"It's just weird now where I come up through a gate and the guys at the gate are screaming 'Block party' when I'm going through, and the guy making me an omelet gave me knuckles and said I did awesome last week," said Block, who also received an invitation to the RBC Canadian Open.

"I mean, that's the part where it's a little beyond me at this point. So it's cool, but I'm trying to enjoy it."
