ROCHESTER, N.Y. – An amazing week for Michael Block became even more so when he flew his 7-iron tee shot into the hole at the 151-yard par-3 15th.

The roar from the gallery and the walk to the green with Rory McIlroy was the stuff of dreams.

The ball flew straight into the hole and caused damage to the cup which needed to be repaired.

Playing with McIlroy in the final round of the PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club, Block, 46, has been among the top stories of the week, a club pro who is playing the golf of his life.

Block, who is the head pro at a California club, qualified via the Club Pro Championship and was the only club pro among 20 in the field to make the 36-hole cut.

He shot rounds of even-par 70 each of the first three days and was tied for eighth heading into the final round. To that point Sunday, Block had two bogeys and no birdies. A top-15 finish would earn him a spot in next year’s PGA Championship.
