Rickie Fowler is never one to shy away from wildlife on the golf course, and he proved that yet again at the Wells Fargo Championship this weekend in Charlotte, N.C.

Fowler, who sits T20 heading into the final round at Quail Hollow, hit his ball into a water hazard on Saturday, only to be greeted by a slithering surprise.

While looking to retrieve his ball, Fowler attempted to lift a snake back onto the grass with his wedge.

The video of the incident, which shows the snake twisting itself around Fowler’s club momentarily, is both mesmerizing and terrifying. The reptile didn’t make it back onto green grass, however, and instead slipped into the rock-lined penalty area.

Back at the 2017 Zurich Classic, Fowler went viral for a much riskier animal run-in during a tournament round. The California native used a bunker rake to take on an alligator, nudging it back into the murky New Orleans lake.
