What the U.S. Ryder Cup Team Will Be Wearing in Rome
The 2023 Ryder Cup—which will be played from Sep. 29-Oct. 1 in Rome, Italy—is quickly approaching, and that means that exciting details about the biennial event are slowly beginning to emerge.
The U.S. Ryder Cup Team’s top six automatic qualifiers will be determined after this week’s BMW Championship, and Zach Johnson will announce his six additional captain’s picks a week later after the Tour Championship.
The team might not be officially set, but the squad’s planned apparel for the week in Rome has been in the works for quite some time.
On Wednesday, Ralph Lauren officially unveiled the uniforms that the U.S. team will be sporting at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club come September, and the options did not disappoint.
Ralph Lauren will provide the U.S. team all of its on-course looks, in addition to Opening Ceremony and Welcome Dinner outfits. The brand will also dress the caddies, spouses and team captains, including Johnson and vice-captain Davis Love III, both of whom are Ralph Lauren Golf ambassadors.
According to Ralph Lauren, the custom and tailored uniforms will put the American spirit on display with a red, white and blue color scheme, while implementing performance fabrics and elevated designs.
The team will kick off Friday’s first session of matches wearing a blue and white striped polo with navy pants. On Saturday, players will sport the same pants but with a white polo, with red and blue thick-striped accents.
On Sunday, the team will round out the event by wearing a red, white and blue polo with patterned navy blue pants, marked subtly with the Ryder Cup logo and the “USA” emblem.

The pieces are meant to accommodate all types of players with lightweight and flexible material. This year’s team uniforms also include a variety of layer-able options for the players in anticipation of fluctuating weather conditions. Those offerings include a vintage-style “Cricket Sweater” as well as a cashmere hoodie.
