Scottie Scheffler Accidentally Smacked Himself in the Face With His Driver
It's true that Scottie Scheffler is the world's number one golfer, with a recent third-place finish in the U.S. Open in the rearview mirror.
However, he is still a golfer all the same, and prone to the same kinds of mistakes you or I might make during a day on the links.
Friday afternoon at the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn., viewers were treated to footage of the 2022 Masters champion smacking himself in the face with his driver.
Video of Scheffler's grip hitting him after a drive on the par-4 fourth hole at TPC River Highlands was tweeted by the PGA Tour's official account to the apparent amusement of 1.5 million viewers.
Seemingly undeterred by his rebellious club, Scheffler parred the hole and entered Saturday at seven-under—eight shots behind fellow Americans Keegan Bradley and Denny McCarthy’s joint lead.
More importantly, he seems to have suffered no further club attacks.
