SI World Golf Rankings: Brian Harman Soars to New Heights After British Open Runaway
Brian Harman is now a three-time winner on the PGA Tour, and he made title No. 3 really count, as he dusted the field at the British Open by six shots in a stunning, runaway victory.
As you might expect, Harman is a big mover in this week’s SI World Golf Rankings – he’s up 21 spots and cracks the top 10 on our list, at No. 8.
Harman is not alone among big movers in this week’s Sports Illustrated World Golf Rankings, our proprietary, data-driven list of the top men’s golfers in the world right now, which looks at performances across all pro tours, including LIV Golf. (Here’s how we do our calculations.)
Here are some notable risers and fallers after the final men's major of 2023.
3 Risers in the SI World Golf Rankings
Brian Harman - Up 21 Spots
This Week: 8
Last Week: 29
Skinny: Won the British Open in emphatic fashion. Never really challenged on Sunday, while enjoying an all-time putting week on the greens.
Sepp Straka - Up 16 Spots
This Week: 17
Last Week: 33
Skinny: Was the closest thing to a challenger to Harman on Sunday, but bogeyed 18th hole to lose a solo runner-up. Still looks like a player on the rise and a lock for the European Ryder Cup team.
Jason Day - Up 14 Spots
This Week: 18
Last Week: 32
Skinny: Already a winner earlier this year, Day notched his best major finish, T2, since the 2019 PGA Championship.
3 Fallers in This Week's SI World Golf Rankings
Sam Burns - Down 6 Spots
This Week: 24
Last Week: 18
Skinny: The two fastest ways to drop in the SIWGR this week were to either miss the Open cut or not play in the event at all. Burns missed the cut.
Tony Finau - Down 8 Spots
This Week: 34
Last Week: 26
Skinny: Like Burns, Finau MC’d at Hoylake. He’ll tee up this week at the 3M Open as the defending champion.
Davis Riley - Down 14 Spots
This Week: 80
Last Week: 66
Skinny: MC at Hoylake.
