Brooks Koepka has earned career major title No. 5, and with it comes a new place among the all-time greats and a big jump in the new SI World Golf Rankings, hot off the press Monday morning.

Koepka was already on the rise this year, as the SIWGR awards points for LIV Golf events, PGA Tour events and other tours around the world. But Koepka’s Oak Hill triumph takes him to new heights: No. 3 on our latest list. (See how we do the calculations here.)

Koepka’s rise buries another headline from this week’s SIWGR edition: Scottie Scheffler’s runner-up finish at Oak Hill was enough for him to jump Jon Rahm and reclaim the No. 1 spot. Scheffler and Rahm have traded the top ranking back and forth since the SIWGR launched back in February.

Of course, there were many other big moves coming out of a major week. Here are some notable risers and fallers in the new SI World Golf Rankings.

3 Risers in the SI World Golf Rankings

1

SIWGR-Koepka

Brooks Koepka

This Week: 3

Last Week: 11

Skinny: Won the PGA Championship by two shots over Scheffler and Viktor Hovland for this fifth career major. Was already on the rise thanks to his LIV Golf win in March and Masters runner-up in April. Clearly  a top-5 player today.

Viktor Hovland

This Week: 9

Last Week: 20

Skinny: Had a chance on Sunday going toe-to-toe with Brooks, but PGA runner-up was his third major-championship top 10. Clearly ascending but still seeking a breakthrough on a big stage.

3

Bryson DeChambeau greets fans on the sixth hole during the final round of the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club.

Bryson DeChambeau

This Week: 38

Last Week: 80

Skinny: Was ranked No. 111 on our list just two weeks ago, but a T5 at LIV Tulsa followed by T4 at Oak Hill is a way to gain ground in a hurry. U.S. Open can't get here fast enough for him.

3 Fallers in the SIWGR

Justin Thomas

This Week: 40

Last Week: 16

Skinny: Hasn’t quite been himself all season. Lost last year’s PGA victory from his calculations, as the SIWGR only uses the most recent 12 months of results in a player’s data, so anything short of a top-5 in Oak Hill likely would’ve dinged his ranking – his T65 finish caused an even steeper decline.

Mito Pereira

This Week: 52

Last Week: 41

Skinny: Lost last year’s PGA on a gut-punch 72nd hole, and now lost that result from his SIWGR calculation. T18 at Oak Hill.

3

Rickie Fowler

This Week: 59

Last Week: 43

Skinny: On a nice little run this season, but MC at Oak Hill.
