With the Americans going 4–0 in the Solheim Cup morning foursomes, the Europeans needed to produce some magic in the afternoon to pick up momentum. On the 12th hole of Finca Cortesin, Emily Pedersen did exactly that—and more.

The last woman in the group to tee on the 178-yard par-3, Pedersen nailed a long iron into the bank on the left side of the putting surface. Her ball ricocheted off the slope with perfect speed, rolling right past the three other shots that had already landed on the green.

Pedersen’s ball got closer and closer to the cup, until it finally dropped. The Danish pro leaped into the arms of her playing partner Maja Stark’s caddie, squealing with joy.

She had just made the second hole in one in Solheim Cup history.

The ace gave Stark and Pedersen the win on the hole to tie up their four-ball match against Allisen Corpuz and Jennifer Kupcho.

In the morning session, Pedersen played alongside England’s Charley Hull. The pair lost to Ally Ewing and Cheyenne Knight 5 and 4.

At 27 years old, Pedersen is playing in her third Solheim Cup.
