TGL Completes 2024 Roster With Five More Pros Including Patrick Cantlay, Kevin Kisner
TGL, the tech-infused golf league started by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, has officially filled out its 24-man roster with five more PGA Tour players: Patrick Cantlay, Wyndham Clark, Kevin Kisner, Min Woo Lee and Lucas Glover.
The new signees join Woods, McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, Matt Fitzpatrick, Keegan Bradley, Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, Adam Scott, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa, Cameron Young, Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Rickie Fowler, Tom Kim, Sahith Theegala and Billy Horschel. The league will consist of six teams of four PGA Tour players, with Atlanta Drive GC, TGL Boston, Los Angeles Golf Club and TGL New York as the franchises announced thus far.
Cantlay and Clark were both members of the U.S. Ryder Cup team in Rome, where the Americans lost to the Europeans at Marco Simone. Cantlay is a former FedEx Cup champion and Clark captured his first major victory this season at the U.S. Open at LACC.
“The more I talked to the other players involved in TGL, the more I wanted to be part of the competition,” Cantlay said. “This is a great opportunity to showcase golf in a new tech-forward format during primetime.”
The evening matches will be aired on ESPN beginning in January 2024, with the first two installments scheduled for Jan. 9 and Jan. 16. The rest of the regular season matches will be broadcasted on Monday nights, and all participating players will be mic’d up.
Kisner, a four-time PGA Tour winner and one of the game’s most beloved personalities, will undoubtedly be an entertaining asset for that portion of the product. “I can promise that I’m going to have a lot of fun at TGL events and hope to bring a little trash talk and personality to each match,” he said.
Lee is another fan favorite who has continued to gain traction as he solidifies his status on the PGA Tour. The Australian burst onto the scene at last year’s Players Championship, where he tied for sixth, showcasing his unique style and contagious energy to a broad fanbase. Talent also runs in Lee’s family: His sister is Minjee Lee, the two-time major champion and 7th-ranked female golfer in the world.
“Look at the roster, it’s crazy,” Lee said ahead of this week’s Zozo Championship. “It seems like everyone and then there’s me.”
Glover, the fifth addition to TGL, is a PGA Tour veteran and winner of the 2009 U.S. Open. He won back-to-back tournaments this summer at the Wyndham Championship and St. Jude FedEx Championship to surge up the FedEx Cup standings and reemerge as a force in the game.
“It was extremely rewarding to return to the winner’s circle again in 2023,” Glover said. “It took a lot of hard work to hold another trophy and I’m proud that my game is now on a level where I have the opportunity to tee it up on TGL.”
TGL will be played in SoFi Center, a custom-built arena in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., with a stadium-sized simulator screen and a dynamic short-game complex.
