Even Tiger Woods hits a poor shot once in a while, and on Friday at the Genesis Invitational, the 15-time major champion’s putt on the 6th green was particularly costly.

After coming up well short of the pin, Woods faced a rather unique challenge, but it was one that comes with the territory on Riviera’s famed 6th hole.

The 150-yard par-3 features a pot bunker in the middle of its green, and Woods’s tee shot put the treacherous feature directly into play. He aimed directly at the back left pin location, but came up several feet short of a steep tier.

Putting from 46 feet, Woods went with an aggressive line at the pin. The putt looked risky from the start, as the gradual slope of the bunker lip quickly took control.

Thankfully, Woods didn’t let his mistakes compound after the unfortunate putt. He got up-and-down from the devious bunker for bogey.

Professional golfers don’t putt into bunkers often, but when the bunker in question is in the middle of the green, the blunder becomes a bit more understandable.

The 6th hole is a signature at Riviera, a beloved George C. Thomas design located in Los Angeles.
