TGL, the Monday night golf league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, has announced a third team owner ahead of its January 2024 start date.

Arthur M. Blank, the owner of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United of MLS, will add a three-man team of PGA Tour players to his robust sports portfolio to represent the city of Atlanta.

The Atlanta TGL team is the third city-centric squad to be formed thus far.

A Boston-based team called TGL Boston will be owned by Fenway Sports Group, while a Los Angeles-based team, Los Angeles Golf Club, will be backed by Venus Williams, Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian, the creator of Reddit.

Blank, TGL’s newest team owner, co-founded The Home Depot. The Atlanta business mogul also owns and operates the largest golf retail company in the world, PGA Tour Superstore.

“Arthur Blank is known as one of the best consumer-focused American businessmen of the last half-century,” said Mike McCarley, TGL co-founder along with Woods and McIlroy and former NBC Sports Group executive. “He has been a stalwart supporter of golf at every level and has been engaged throughout much of TMRW Sports’ journey to develop TGL.”

TGL matches will be staged starting in January in a purpose-built arena in Palm Beach, Fla., on the campus of Palm Beach State College. It is structured as a shorter version of team golf, with six teams of three players competing in two-hour matches.

A dozen players have committed to play including Woods, McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Rose, Adam Scott, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa, Rickie Fowler and Billy Horschel.
