Fore! Things
1. A final-round 65 for Scottie Scheffler helped him defend his WM Phoenix Open title and also helped him regain the No. 1 ranking in the world. The victory was his fifth on the PGA Tour and first since he won the Masters.
2. Jon Rahm was unable to catch Scheffler on Sunday but his third-place finish was another in a long line of great golf. Since September, his worst finish anywhere in the world is eighth at the Hero World Challenge.
3. Rickie Fowler, whose last win was four years ago in Phoenix, had a nice week, making a hole in one on Sunday and tying for 10th as he moved back into the top 100 in the world.
4. Several LIV Golf players competed in the International Series event in Oman, one of the Asian Tour’s group of elevated tournaments. Sergio Garcia and Joaquin Niemann fared the best, as they tied for fifth in the event won by Japan’s Takumi Kanaya, who won $360,000 from the $2 million purse. Brooks Koepka missed the cut.
