1. After finishing second to Jon Rahm at the Mexico Open last year, Tony Finau prevailed this time, capturing his sixth PGA Tour victory and fourth in the last nine months across 18 Tour starts.

2. Argentina’s Alejandro Tosti earned a spot in this week’s Wells Fargo Championship, a designated event, by finishing in the top 10 in Mexico. It was his third PGA Tour start on a sponsor exemption.

3. Rahm was bidding to become the first player since Johnny Miller in 1974 to win five times in a PGA Tour season before May 1.

4. After a two-week run through Australia and Singapore, LIV Golf takes one week prior to its event in Tulsa, Okla., which begins May 12. It is the week prior to the PGA Championship with another event in Washington, D.C., the week after the PGA.

1. This week’s Wells Fargo Championship is the start of a busy stretch that will see five designated events in the next eight weeks, including the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open.

2. Wells Fargo is followed by the Byron Nelson, PGA, Colonial, Memorial, RBC Canadian, U.S. Open and Travelers. In addition to the two majors, Wells Fargo, Memorial and Travelers are designated events.

3. No. 1-ranked Rahm and No. 2 Scottie Scheffler (also 1-2 SIWGR) are skipping Wells Fargo this week. Rahm will get ready for the PGA Championship. Scheffler is expected to have a busy stretch, playing the Nelson, PGA, Colonial and Memorial in consecutive weeks.

4. The first round of the PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y., is 17 days away.
