Fore! Things

1. Wyndham Clark’s victory at the Wells Fargo Championship was his first on the PGA Tour in his 134th start.

2. The victory moves him to fifth in the FedEx Cup standings, all but assures him of being exempt for all of the designated events next year and will get him an invitation to the Masters, which will be his first appearance in the tournament.

3. Xander Schauffele now has eight top-10 finishes this season, tied with Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler.

4. Adrian Meronk won the Italian Open at the venue where the Ryder Cup will be played in September outside of Rome and got a chance to impress European captain Luke Donald in the process. But the tournament featured no players among the top 60 in the world.

Fore! More Things

1. The Wells Fargo Championship served as a qualifier for the British Open, with the top three players not otherwise exempt earning a spot at Royal Liverpool. Winner Wyndham Clark, Michael Kim, who finished seventh, and Denny McCarthy, who tied for eighth, got the three spots. If any of those players qualifies through another criteria, the Open will go to the next player who was Brendon Todd.

2. The qualification period for the PGA Championship via its year-long PGA points system concluded with the Wyndham, with the top 70 assured of a spot in the tournament in two weeks. The PGA is expected to announce its field on Wednesday.

3. The AT&T Byron Nelson will see No. 2-ranked Scottie Scheffler in the field along with another Dallas resident, Jordan Spieth. They are two of the six players ranked among the top 30 to play the week prior to the PGA Championship. Tom Kim, Tyrrell Hatton, Hideki Matsuyama and Tom Hoge are also in the field.

4. The first round of the PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y., is in 10 days.
