PGA Tour vs. LIV Golf: The Chess Match Continues

As the LIV Golf Series picked off two more Tour players including four-time major winner Brooks Koepka, Jay Monahan countered at a press conference in Cromwell

It was a big week of golf news: Brooks Koepka and Abraham Ancer are the latest additions to the LIV Golf series and will make their debuts next week in Portland. The PGA Tour returned serve announcing elevated purses for eight events next year along with an all-new International Series for top players

It's a major week on the LPGA Tour and players were greeted with an email noting a purse twice the size of last year. As the top players in the women's game compete at Congressional, one will pocket a tournament record $1.35 Million for their efforts. 

Will Zalatoris came up just short in Brookline and settled for his second consecutive major championship runner-up. But it's not all bad news for Willy Z. With that result he surpasses Louis Oosthuizen's record for most money earned in a season without recording a victory. 

All that and a statement from the R&A regarding next month's Open Championship are packed into this week's edition of Up and Down.
