Watch: TaylorMade Launches New Irons That Were Engineered From AI
Dan Evans, creator of Dan's Golf World and partner of SI.com, reviews TaylorMade's new P790 irons.
Hold on: AI is building golf clubs?
TaylorMade's new P790 irons were designed by running thousands of AI simulations on a supercomputer to determine how to construct the most advanced set of irons humanly possible.
The engineers at TaylorMade fed the AI mountains of data, which led to the discovery of this specific unique design for each club in the set.
By gradually shifting the internal weight system from the toe down to the heel in each longer club, TaylorMade systematically lowered the center of gravity while preserving spin, feel, accuracy and sound.
Collin Morikawa was seen playing the new, unreleased P790 3-iron at the this year's British Open, but these irons should work well for mid-handicappers all the way up to tournament players.
They are currently available for pre-order now and set to hit retail Sept. 1. Check out TaylorMadeGolf.com for more, and watch the video above for the full preview.
