Pelham boys basketball CG MJ Jones voted SBLive’s Alabama High School Athlete of the Week
Congratulations to Pelham boys basketball combo-guard MJ Jones for being voted SBLive’s Alabama High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 17-23!
The senior led Pelham with 24 points in a 55-40 win over Chilton County.
Jones received 50.59% of the vote, beating out University Charter's Kendall Lacoste who finished second with 42.99%. Shoals Christian's Meleah Turner finished third with 5.12% and Eufaula's Brooke Hallman finished fourth with 0.55%. There were over 41,000 votes tallied this week!

Meleah Turner, Shoals Christian Girls Basketball: The senior had 20 points in a close loss against Covenant Christian School 40-41.
Win Miller, Vestavia Hills Boys Basketball: Recorded 22 points and 6 rebounds in a 56-45 road win over Hewitt-Trussville.
Corey Stephenson, Hueytown Boys Basketball: The senior scored 27 points, 2 assists, and 7 rebounds in a 57-69 loss against Bartlett (TN) in the Hotbed Classic tournament.
Brooke Hallman, Eufaula Girls Basketball: The freshman combo-guard led Eufaula with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals in a 50-26 win over Russell City.
Mia Hollingsworth, Hamilton Girls Basketball: Scored 30 points to lead Hamilton to a 66-28 win over Winfield to claim their third straight Marion County Championship.
Brady Dunn, Oak Mountain Boys Basketball: Dunn scored 31 points in a 52-59 overtime loss to Tuscaloosa County.
Olivia Vandergriff, Guntersville Girls Basketball: Recorded 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists along with MVP honors in a 49-34 win over Albertville to claim the Marshall County Championship.
Christian Thompson, Homewood Boys Basketball: Thompson scored 28 points along with 7 rebounds in a 56-48 win over Chelsea.
Kendall Lacoste, University Charter Girls Basketball: Lacoste scored 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 steals in a 41-29 win against Hatch.
