THIS WEEK’S ALABAMA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES:

Kenleigh Cahalan, Hewitt-Trussville Softball: Cahalan went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and one RBI in a 7-5 win over Hoover in the Hewitt Invitational.

Avary Lumpkin, Tallassee Softball: Lumpkin went 2-for-2 with a double, a home run, and seven RBIs in a 16-1 win over Dadeville in the Wetumpka Tournament. 

Blayne Godfrey, Hartselle Softball: The sophomore pitcher threw 14 shutout innings along with 28 strikeouts across three wins in the ASOF Tournament. 

Aniya Hubbard, Hoover Girls Basketball: Scored 25 points in Hoover's 73-64 second consecutive 7A state championship win over Vestavia Hills. Hubbard ends her high school career with three State Championships and 1,767 career points.

Samiya Steele, Hazel Green Girls Basketball: Steele scored 16 points, grabbed nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals to earn her second straight MVP in the 6A state championship win over Oxford.

Olivia Vandergriff, Guntersville Girls Basketball: Vandergriff recorded 15 points, two rebounds, and two assists to earn MVP honors in Guntersville's 5A state championship win over Lee-Huntsville.

Gabe Young, Mountain Brook Baseball: Young had a double, two RBIs, and was 2-for-4 in a 5-2 win over Spanish Fort in the Perfect Game Showdown.

Cole Edwards, Spain Park Baseball: Edwards went 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, eight RBIs, and three runs scored in a 14-1 win over Fort Payne.

Thomas Watson, Vestavia Hills Baseball: Watson had the walk-off hit to propel Vestavia Hills past Gardendale, 4-3.

Haston Alexander, Covenant Christian Boys Basketball: Alexander had a double-double (20 points, 10 rebounds) in Covenant Christian’s 1A state title win against Decatur Heritage.

Logan Patterson, Section Boys Basketball: Patterson dropped 36 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had two steals in Section’s 2A state title win over Mars Hill.

Cade Phillips, Jacksonville Boys Basketball: Phillips had 19 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks in Jacksonville's 4A state championship win over Escambia County.
