Here’s a look at the updated 2023 Alabama high school football computer rankings for every classification.

The rankings are through games played on September 23. We will continue to release our computer rankings weekly for the duration of the season.

The Central-Phenix City Red Devils (5-0) are ranked No. 1 in the 7A rankings, while the Saraland Spartans (5-0) are No. 1 in the 6A rankings. Saraland is also ranked No. 15 in the country in the SBLive/Sports Illustrated national high school football rankings.

SBLive's formula was created using its own linear algebra-based ranking algorithm inspired by the Colley Bias-Free Ranking Method. Colley’s Method was created by Wes Colley, Ph.D., an astrophysicist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He devised his algorithm in order to help address the subjectivity and controversy regarding BCS college football selections in the 1990s and early 2000s, using a method that used no subjective variables.
