THIS WEEK’S WAFD BANK BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES:
TJ Adams, Red Mountain: Adams went 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI in a 12-5 win over Mountain View Mesa.
Daniel Avitia, Alhambra: Avitia threw seven shutout innings, striking out 13 and allowing just two hits to lead Alhambra to a 5-0 win over Willow Canyon.
Keeton Bell, Mesquite: Bell went 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, two stolen bases and three runs scores in Mesquite's 18-6 win over Seton Catholic.
Justin Chambers, Higley: Chambers pitched six dominant innings against Campo Verde, allowing just two hits and one run, while striking out 14 in a 5-2 victory.
Connor Hill, Millenium: Hill threw six shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 10 to lead Millenium to an 8-0 win over Agua Fria.
Brock Jessup, Desert Mountain: Jessup pitched a two-hitter over seven innings, allowing just one unearned run in a 6-1 win over Gilbert.
Omar Monreal, Salpointe: Monreal blasted two home runs to lead Salpointe to a 15-1 win over Pueblo Magnet.
Isaac Rehfield, Casteel: Rehfield pitched 6 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just two hits and striking out five to lead Casteel to a 2-1 win over Chandler in 10 innings.
Colton Vercoe, Poston Butte: Vercoe nearly pitched a perfect game, allowing just one hit in a complete-game 10-0 win over Marcos de Niza. Vercoe struck out eight in his six innings of work.
Ruben Villaescusa, Tucson: Villaescusa went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and five RBIs in Tucson's 15-0 win over Trevor G. Browne.
Marshall Williams, Sunnyslope: Williams went 4-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and five RBI in a 20-2 win over Valley Vista.
Max Zdimal, Notre Dame Prep: Zdimal went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBI to lead Notre Dame Prep to a 17-3 win over Cactus.
