Unbeaten Centennial upset Chandler last week to shake up the rankings

There is a new No. 1 team in Arizona high school football.

After upsetting Chandler 29-28 last Friday, the Centennial Coyotes jumped to No. 1 in the latest SBLive 6A Arizona high school football computer rankings. 

Centennial (7-0) sits ahead of Basha (6-1) and Chandler (6-1) in the rankings. 

Desert Mountain (7-0) is the No. 1 team in the 5A rankings. 

SBLive's computer rankings formula was created using its own linear algebra-based ranking algorithm inspired by the Colley Bias-Free Ranking Method. Colley’s Method was created by Wes Colley, Ph.D., an astrophysicist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He devised his algorithm in order to help address the subjectivity and controversy regarding BCS college football selections in the 1990s and early 2000s, using a method that used no subjective variables.
