Here are the candidates for the WaFd Bank Arizona Softball Athlete of the Week as nominated by coaches, fans and readers.

Alyssa Antillon, Skyline

The senior stepped up for the Coyotes, going 3 for 4 at the plate with a home run, a double, three runs and three RBIs in a 16-1 win over Peoria. She also went 3 for 4 with a home run and two doubles in a 10-9 win over West Point.

Kierra Blythe, Agua Fria

The senior infielder has been a strong hitter, a standout on defense with great range, while providing the Owls strong leadership qualities. She scored four runs and stole a pair of bases in a game against ALA-Gilbert North earlier in the season.

Sabrina Case, Sunnyslope

The senior had a big day at the plate for the Vikings, going 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, two runs and four RBIs in their 21-2 victory at Valley Vista.

Kendall Cochran, Red Mountain

The junior pitched a six-inning shutout, allowing two hits while striking out 11 and walking two for the Mountain Lions in their 10-0 win over Hamilton in a game played at Red Mountain High School.

Bella Corona, Marana

The sophomore belted a pair of home runs and drove in five runs for the Tigers in their 13-4 win over Empire during a game at the Badger Classic. She also hit a home run, scored three times and drove in three in a 13-4 win over Cienega. She then went 4 for 4 at the plate with two more home runs, four runs and three RBIs in a 12-5 win over Empire.

Abbey Feld, Verrado

The senior pitcher, who Coach Tee Hampton calls, “a great teammate and player,” threw a five-inning no-hitter for the Vipers, striking out 13 and walking three in a 21-0 win over Ray. She also hit a home run, two doubles and drove in five in the victory.

Gabriella Garcia, Basha

The senior had a huge day at the plate for the Bears, going 3 for 3 with a home run, two doubles, four runs and three RBIs in a 15-0 win over Desert Ridge in a game played at Basha High School.

Mariana Garcia, Canyon View

The senior went 3 for 3 at the plate with a home run, two runs and three RBIs for the Jaguars in their 14-10 victory over Liberty.

Makayla George, Paradise Honors

The senior center fielder turned in a big week, going 9 for 15 at the plate with seven stolen bases and three doubles while also having a 1.000 fielding percentage. She also had seven runs and five RBIs in helping the Panthers win the Bronze championship at the West Valley Tournament.

Daniella Gloria, Dobson

The sophomore pitcher is off to a blazing start to the season for the Mustangs, recording 113 strikeouts in her first 50 2/3 innings pitched. In her latest game, against Gila Ridge, she had 15 strikeouts.

J’kai’a Graves, Shadow Ridge

The senior shortstop went 2 for 3 at the plate with a double, a triple, two RBIs and a stolen base, in addition to making a diving catch in the field for the Stallions in an 11-1 win over Liberty. For the season, she’s hitting for a .595 average with six stolen bases.

Avery Gurr, Boulder Creek

The junior threw a complete-game shutout, giving up three hits while striking out 10 and walking two in leading the Jaguars to a 5-0 win over Mesquite.

Brooke Hyde, Valley Vista

The senior went 3 for 4 at the plate with a home run, a double, two runs and five RBIs for the Monsoon in a 27-10 victory at Mesa.

Ella Joplin, Marana

The junior stepped up for the Tigers, smacking a pair of solo home runs in their 13-4 victory against Empire during play at the Badger Classic. She would then go 3 for 4 at the plate with two more home runs and three RBIs in a 12-5 win over Empire.

Courtney Lake, Mountain Ridge

The senior blasted two home runs, a double, scored three times and drove in two in the Mountain Lions’ 16-0 win over Estrella Foothills.

Marina Lara, Tolleson

The sophomore went 5 for 7 at the plate with three runs and two RBIs for the Wolverines during play at the West Valley Softball Invitational.

Arianna Leon, Gilbert

The junior went 3 for 3 at the plate with a walk, four runs and two RBIs for the Tigers in their 15-2 win over Buena during play at the West Valley Tournament.

Sahara Morales, Gila Ridge

The senior smacked a pair of home runs, scored four runs and drove in four runs in powering the Hawks to a 19-2 victory at Yuma.

Saige Peters, Corona del Sol

The sophomore was a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate with a triple, two runs and four RBIs for the Aztecs in their 19-0 victory over Millennium.

Jada Rubalcava, Tolleson 

The freshman went 6 for 10 at the plate with a double, a home run, five runs and five RBIs for the Wolverines during play at the West Valley Softball Invitational.

Corie Shull, Queen Creek

The senior went 3 for 4 at the plate with a home run, two runs and two RBIs for the Bulldogs in their 10-2 win over Xavier College Prep.

Violet Silva, Gila Ridge

The sophomore threw a complete-game shutout, allowing five hits while striking out eight and walking none in the Hawks’ 4-0 victory at Dobson.

Torynn Slaughter, Pinnacle

The sophomore was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate with a home run, two runs and two RBIs in the Pioneers’ 9-4 win over Mica Mountain during play at the Hamilton Softball Invitational. She also went 4 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs in a 16-1 win over Chandler.

Tatyana Vega, Sunnyside

The junior came through in the clutch for the Blue Devils in a 1-0 eight-inning home win over Mountain View. She pitched eight shutout innings, giving up just one hit while striking out 15 and walking two. She also belted a walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Payton Westra, Red Mountain

The sophomore went 2 for 4 at the plate with a home run, three runs and three RBIs for the Mountain Lions in a 10-0 win over Hamilton in a game played at Red Mountain High School.

Guilianna Wilson, Mountain Ridge

The senior had a big day, both pitching and hitting, for the Mountain Lions in a 16-0 win over Estrella Foothills. In the circle, she threw five shutout innings, allowing two hits while striking out seven and walking one. At the plate, she went 3 for 4 with a solo home run and four RBIs.

Lexie Wilson, Chaparral

The senior pitcher had a big week, going 4-0 in leading the Firebirds to the championship of the West Valley Softball Invitational. She gave up just one earned run while striking out 31 and walking four in 18 2/3 innings of work.
