Harding Academy star linebacker Wyatt Simmons commits to Arkansas Razorbacks
Arkansas has landed yet another coveted in-state football recruit.
Harding Academy senior linebacker Wyatt Simmons announced his pledge to the Razorbacks via social media Saturday afternoon.
Simmons, a 6-foot-3, 210-pounder, was an unknown to college recruiters until he finally compiled a highlight film in the late spring and posted it to the internet. Some of the top Power 5 programs in the nation took notice immediately.
Auburn offered May 9 and then Arkansas, Clemson, Florida State, Miami, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas and USC, among many others.
247Sports ranks Simmons as a 3-star and his composite ranking is also 3 stars.
Simmons, the son of Harding University head coach Paul Simmons, has helped the Wildcats to their third consecutive state final. Last fall, he totaled 84 tackles (15 for loss), six sacks, an interception and two fumble recoveries.
The Wildcats are again picked to be a contender in Class 4A and open the season Friday, Aug. 25, against Class 5A Valley View.
