Arkansas high school girls golf state championships roundup
State champions in six classes were crowned in girls golf this week. Here is a recap.
CLASS 6A
Mount St. Mary won the Class 6A girls title with a two-round total of 497, edging Conway by two strokes at Springdale County Club.
Chloe Freville of Mount St. Mary finished third overall with a 156 (80-76) to lead the Belles. Lillie York shot a 171 (83-88), Anna Belle Gutierrez shot a 172 (88-84) and Maria Ozzie shot a 174 (88-86). Yinyoe Yang of Conway was second overall with a 154 (77-77) while her teammate Brooklyn Worley shot a 168 (82-86) and Tori Worley shot a 177 (88-89).
Individually, Charlie Whorton of Springdale Har-Ber was the medalist with a 153 (76-77). Elizabeth Esteban of Cabot was fifth at 160 (82-78).
CLASS 5A
Russellville won the 5A title with a. 239, knocking off Valley View by 21 strokes at Ridgepoint Country Club in Jonesboro. Greene County Tech was third at 268 and Little Rock Christian was fourth at 299.
Susanna Manns of Russellville was the medalist with a 73, topping her teammates Chloe McSpadden and Macy Cooper (83) by 10 strokes. Liza McIlvoy of Greene County Tech was fourth at 84 and Kenzie Green of Valley View was fifth at 85.
CLASS 4A
Brookland won the team title with a 244, topping Shiloh Christian (258) by 14 strokes. Gravette was third at 261, Nashville was fourth at 262 and Highland was fifth at 265.
Individually, Anna Kate Nichols of Pulaski Academy won her third consecutive state champion with a 6-under-par 66, topping Tori Milton of Crossett, who shot a 68. Kody Redman of Brookland was third at 71. Teagan Muldoon of Gravette was fourth at 77 and Madison Pennington of Clarksville was fifth at 78.
In addition to Redman, Brookland was supported by Erin Butler, who shot an 83. Shiloh Christian was led by Presley Stam, who shot a 78.
CLASS 3A
Salem (283) topped Gosnell (287) by four strokes to win the Class 3A team title at Cooper’s Hawks Golf Course in Melbourne. Melbourne was third at 288, Charleston was fourth at 289 and DeWitt was fifth at 298.
Individually, Neci Hill of DeWitt won the individual title with a 78, beating Bella Curtis of Baptist Prep (81) and Annie Rush of Melbourne (81) by three strokes. Anna-Claire Smith of Gosnell was fourth at 82 and Ellie Norris of Bismarck was fifth at 83.
Salem was led by Katie Fish (89) and Chloe Taylor (91). In addition to Smith, Morgan Hatch shot a 92 for Gosnell. Charleston was led by Maddy Flynn, who shot an 85.
CLASS 2A
Horatio, led by Cadee Glasgow, won the Class 1A team title at Glenwood Country Club.
Glasgow won the individual title with a 77, topping Bella Frisby of Parkers Chapel (80) by three strokes. Her teammates Kinley Rankin (91) and Demi Leonard (94) were fourth and sixth.
Horatio won the team title tile by nine strokes over Parkers Chapel (271). Buffalo Island Central was third at 344. Conway St. Joseph was fourth at 345 and Poyen was fifth at 352.
Addy Morrison of Ouachita was third at 88 and Kaitlyn Kordsmeier of Conway St. Joseph was fifth at 92. Krislyn McAuliffe (94) and Lorali Barnes (97) of Parkers Chapel were sixth and eighth.
CLASS 1A
West Side Greers Ferry, led by Lainee Gentry, won the Class 1A team title at Mountain Ranch Golf Course in Fairfield Bay.
Gentry won the individual title with a 90 and her teammate Lollie Parker was second with a 94. Greers Ferry had a team score of 298, beating Armorel (327) by 29 strokes. Viola was third at 341.
Emerson Speight of Armorel was third at 98, Lauren Fancher of Kingston was fourth at 100 and Ashton Turner of Kirby was fifth at 105.
