Van Buren junior Trenton Cooley has reached a pinnacle that not even some of the top all-time professional athletes have achieved.

Cooley hit an 85-foot buzzer beater at the end of the third quarter of a 68-45 win at Greenwood on Tuesday night.

The shot was so impressive, it took the No. 2 spot on the late edition of ESPN's SportsCenter's Top Plays segment,.

"What a shot by Trenton Cooley - remember his name'" veteran ESPN anchor Linda Cohn said.

After a Greenwood player missed a free throw, Cooley's teammate grabbed the errant shot with time running down and shoveled it to Cooley, who launched the ball more than 80 feet to the Pointers' hoop as time expired, giving Van Buren a 49-34 lead heading to the final quarter of a 5A-West Conference game between the two River Valley rivals.

Van Buren won the game 68-45 to improve to 13-5 overall and 2-0 in league play.

Cooley, a 5-foot-9, 145-pound point guard, also plays on the Pointers football team.
