Idaho boys basketball team loses game ... while in the locker room celebrating a win
In one of the strangest finishes to a high school basketball game you'll ever see, the Genesis Prep boys basketball team lost a 46-45 heartbreaker to Wallace on two free throws that came well after the game ended.
After securing what they thought was a 45-44 win on Friday night, Genesis Prep headed to the locker room to celebrate. Minutes later they were called back to the court to watch Wallace senior point guard Carter Bailey hit two technical free throws to give the Miners the victory.
The game-winning free throws were the result of a technical foul assessed to an unruly Genesis Prep fan moments after the game ended. Bailey, who had missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, walked to the line and calmly buried both free throws.
Genesis Prep is coached by Jeff Hironaka, the former head coach at Seattle Pacific and assistant coach at Washington State. It would have been the program's first Scenic Idaho Conference victory.
