CORONA, Calif. — Mater Dei senior linebacker David Bailey played so well on Friday night in the Monarchs Division 1 Southern Section semifinal win over Corona Centennial that after the game, head coach Bruce Rollinson lifted Bailey's arm with his own and presented him to the Mater Dei crowd.

“Let’s hear it for David!” Rollinson yelled.

Bailey made two of the most important plays of the game for Mater Dei. In the third quarter, he had a strip sack of Centennial quarterback Izzy Carter that led to the Monarchs game-winning touchdown courtesy of a 12-yard run from Brown. In the fourth quarter, Bailey sacked Centennial’s other quarterback, Carson Conklin, which pushed back the Huskies and forced them to punt two plays later trailing 21-16 with 2:02 to play.

Bailey discusses the win below.
