Meet SBLive's 2022 All-Southern Section Boys Basketball teams

With the 2022 California high school basketball season in the books, it's time to hand out some awards.
After covering dozens of games and talking to dozens of coaches across the Section this season, here are SBLive's Boys Basketball All-Southern Section first and second teams. The Section wide teams were compiled by SBLive reporter Connor Morrissette and include a Player of the Year.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
G Donovan Dent - Corona Centennial - Senior
Dent led Corona Centennial to both Southern Section and Open Division state titles in his senior year. He averaged 16.4 points, 6.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game shooting 53% from the field.

ALL-SECTION FIRST TEAM
G: Jared McCain - Corona Centennial - Junior
McCain was Corona Centennial’s leading scorer averaging 16.8 points per game for the Southern Section and State Open Division champion Huskies. Last week, McCain committed to Duke.
G: Dusty Stromer - Notre Dame - Junior
Stromer was named the Mission League Player of the Year this season after leading Notre Dame to a share of the Mission League championship. He’s cut his list of colleges down to four and will decide between Arizona, Gonzaga, UCLA, and Houston.
G/F: Amari Bailey - Sierra Canyon - Senior
Bailey is a UCLA signee. He averaged 18.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 15 games for Sierra Canyon this season.
F: Brady Dunlap - Harvard-Westlake - Junior
Dunlap averaged 17 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game for a Harvard-Westlake team that made the school’s first ever Southern Section Open Division championship game this season. In the Wolverines’ 63-60 Southern Section Open Division playoff win over Sierra Canyon, Dunlap scored Harvard-Westlake’s first 10 points of the fourth quarter and finished with 17 in total. He was named a first team All-Mission League selection this year as well.
C: Devin Williams - Corona Centennial - Junior
Williams averaged 11.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game for the Southern Section and State Open Division champion Huskies. He shot an impressive 44% from 3-point range in his junior year. Williams has received scholarship offers from Cal and Texas Tech. He’s one of Southern California’s most exciting college prospects.
ALL-SECTION SECOND TEAM
G: Cam Thrower - Harvard-Westlake - Senior
Thrower averaged 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for Harvard-Westlake this season. In the Wolverines’ 63-60 Southern Section Open Division playoff win over Sierra Canyon, Thrower scored a team high 18 points. He was named a first team All-Mission League selection this year as well.
G: RJ Smith - Damien - Senior
Smith won more games at Damien (112) than any other player in the program's history. This season he averaged 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists per game for the Division 1 State champion Spartans.
G: Ben Shtolzberg - Notre Dame - Senior
Shtolzberg had a tremendous year for Notre Dame. In the Knights' 71-61 regular season win over Harvard-Westlake, the Creighton signee scored 28 points. In Notre Dame's 66-60 state playoff win over St. Anthony, he scored 25. Shtolzberg was one of the top scoring point guards in the Section this season.
G/F: Vyctorius Miller - Crean Lutheran - Sophomore
Miller led Crean Lutheran to the Southern Section Open Division playoffs averaging 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists per game. Miller is one of the top recruits nationally in the 2023 class. He’s received scholarship offers from UCLA, USC and Kansas, among others.
F: Aaron McBride - Corona Centennial - Junior
McBride is one of the most underrated basketball players in the state. The junior averaged 13 points and eight rebounds per game for the Southern Section and CIF State Open Division champion Huskies.
