Photos: Granite Hills holds off late charge from Grossmont for 4-1 victory at Petco Park
SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Granite Hills used five pitchers on Monday to slow down Grossmont's offense in the first of six high school games this week at Petco Park. The Foothillers were held to only one hit through the first six innings of the game while Granite Hills built up a 4-0 lead.
Grossmont rallied in the final inning, scoring their first run of the day but their comeback was cut short as freshman Brenden Lewis struck out leadoff hitter Justin Tucker with the bases loaded to end the game.
Granite Hills was led by infielder Spencer Davis who tallied three hits and drove in the opening run of the game for the Eagles in the third inning.
Granite Hills improves to 12-2-1 with the win while Grossmont drops to 6-8-1.
