For the third time in three seasons, St. Bernard High School has a new football coach.

Former NFL cornerback Orlando Scandrick has been hired by the school, Athletic Director Jamie Beth Mark confirmed to SBLive on Friday.

In April 2021, former St. Bernard coach Manny Douglas resigned just three games into his tenure. Douglas came to St. Bernard after winning nine Los Angeles City Section titles and two CIF State Championships at Narbonne.

The resignation led to a mass exodus of football players from the school. St. Bernard then hired former Washington State star running back and nine-year NFL veteran Steve Broussard in May, but last fall the team didn't have enough players to field a team and Broussard has since departed.

Scandrick attended Los Alamitos High School and Boise State. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2008 and played nine seasons with the franchise. Last season, Scandrick coached as an assistant at Los Alamitos. The St. Bernard job is his first head coaching position.
