Photos: La Costa Canyon beats Eastlake 5-2, repeats as San Diego Section Open Division champions

La Costa Canyon won their second Open Division title in four appearances.

SAN DIEGO -- Hayden Kline broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning with a three-run home run, leading La Costa Canyon past Eastlake 5-2 in the San Diego Section Open Division game at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

La Costa Canyon used three pitchers, Stunner Gonzales, Gabe Camacho, and Cooper Walls, holding Eastlake to two runs on five hits. Seven batters in La Costa Canyon's lineup each had one hit while junior right fielder Kalen Applefield walked in all three of his plate appearances.

The Mavericks and Titans both advance to next week's CIF Southern Regional.
