Updated CIF Southern California baseball regional playoff brackets: Three of five top seeds advance to finals

Top seeds Crespi (D2) and San Marcos (D3) go down to Santana and Westlake in semifinals, Santa Margarita (D1), Canyon (D4) and Castaic (D5) roar into finals

The 2023 CIF Southern California baseball regional playoff brackets have been updated and the finals are here.

Five games and 10 teams remain alive for Saturday's championship games throughout the Southland.

Top seeds Santa Margarita (Division 1), Canyon-Anaheim (D4) and Castaic (D5) rolled into the finals.

Santa Margarita (28-7) defeated Rancho Bernardo 2-0 in the semifinals and now gets second-seed La Costa Canyon (26-6), which took care of Eastlake 11-5. SEE STORY

The big upset came in Division 2 where fourth-seed Santana (21-10) knocked off No. 1 seed Crespi 3-1 behind a 3-hitter with seven strikeouts by Destin Allen-Fox.

A two-run single from Caden Corderman in the second inning keyed the offense. Santana will go on to meet another upstart, sixth-seed Calabasas, in the championship game.

A more mild upset occurred in Division 3, where Westlake went on the road to defeat No. 1 San Marcos-Goleta 4-3 and now visits second-seed Bakersfield Christian (27-7). That's a lot of travel.

Defending champions are JSerra Catholic (D1), Torrey Pines (D2), Newport Harbor (D3), Tesoro (D4) and Estancia (D5).

JSerra, the Southern Section Division 1 champion, was among several eligible teams that opted out of the regional playoffs due to their schools already graduating. No other defending champion are in the brackets.

JSerra defeated Santa Margarita 1-0 in the Southern Section finals.
