Northern California high school baseball, softball, golf: Top stars, best performances May 29-June 3

More than a dozen standout baseball and softball players led their teams to Northern California titles; Three top performers stand out at the CIF State golf championship tourney in Pebble Beach

Here’s a quick look at some of the top stars and memorable performances from the final week of the Northern California high school season. .

McKenna Campbell, a senior catcher for Willow Glen's softball team, drilled a double in the bottom of the seventh giving her team a 6-5 walk-off victory over Notre Dame-Salinas in the CIF Northern California Division 2 title game. It was the second double of the game for Campbell, a Miami of Ohio signee. 

Alanna Clincy, a freshman pitcher for Willow Glen, gave up seven hits and struck out 11 in her team's 6-5 win over Notre Dame-Salinas in the Northern California D2 championship game. She finished 12-3 on the season with a 1.93 ERA and 185 strikeouts in 112 innings. 

Chase Gordon, a freshman for St. Ignatius baseball, pitched a six-hitter in a 5-1 semifinal win over Bellarmine en route to a CIF Northern California Division 2 baseball title. 

Adrian Garcia, a pitcher for Central Catholic-Modesto's baseball team, struck out 11 and gave up just three hits in six innings during his team's 5-2 win over Oakmond-Roseville for the CIF Northern California Division 3 baseball title win. 

Tanner Griffith, a senior for De La Salle baseball, had four hits, scored four runs and drove in four with two doubles, a triple and home run in three wins to secure a second consecutive CIF Northern California Division 1 championship. 

Finean Hunter-Kenney, a junior pitcher for the Lowell baseball team, pitched a 2-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 3-0 CIF Northern California Division first-round win over Skyline. He then came in relief and pitched the final three innings of a 4-0 title-clinching win over University.

Archie Horn, a freshman pitcher for St. Ignatius, gave up just one hit and struck out three in five innings leading the Wildcats to a 3-0 win over Casa Grande-Petaluma for the CIF Division 2 Northern California title. 

Jack Jerge, a golfer at De La Salle, shot a four-under-par round of 67 to help the Spartans to their second straight and third overall state title by shooting a 9-under team round of 346 at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach. De La Salle defeated runner-up Torrey Pines by 10 strokes. 

Joshua Kim, a golfer for De La Salle-Concord, shot a 5-under-par round of 66 to lead the Spartans to their second straight CIF state championship and third overall with a sparkling team score of 9-under par 346 at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach. 

Sophia Mariottini, a softball player for Hollister, not only scored the game-winning run but allowed no runs in nine innings in her team's 1-0 win over Saint Francis for the CIF Northern California Division 1 title. She gave up just two hits in the title game and finished 28-2 on the season with a 1.59 ERA. She also hit .414, which ranked third on the team. 

Hailey Nguyen, a pitcher for Live Oak, struck out 10 in five frames to pick up the win in a 13-3 decision over North Salinas for the CIF Northern California Division 5 championship. 

Kate Munnerlyn, a junior pitcher for Saint Francis, allowed just four hits over nine innings with 11 strikeouts and no earned runs in a 1-0 loss to Hollister in the CIF Northern California D1 title game. Earlier in the week she was the winning pitcher in wins over San Ramon Valley (10-0) and Central-Fresno (1-0). She finished 16-3 on the season with a 0.55 ERA. 

Bela Panuco, a senior softball player at Live Oak, had two hits and three RBI in her team's 13-3 win over North Salinas for the CIF Northern California Division 5 championship. For the season, Panuco hit .417 with 145 hits, 11 RBI and three home runs. 

Luke Powell, a gofer at Capistrano Valley Christian, was the medalist at the CIF State Golf Championships May 31 by shooting a 7-under round of 64 at the famed Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach. 

Randi Roeling, a senior pitcher for Central Catholic-Modesto, led her team to a CIF Northern California Division 3 title by throwing a no-hitter with nine strikeouts in a 7-0 victory at top-seed Ponderosa-Shingle Springs. Roeling finished 21-3 on the season with 0.59 ERA while leading the state with 375 strikeouts in 178.2 innings. She struck out a combined 33 in two previous wins in the playoffs. 

Jeremy Tam, a senior for Lowell's baseball team, made his starting pitching debut and hurled four scoreless innings, leading the Cardinals to a 4-0 victory over host University-San Francisco in the CIF Northern California Division 5 title game. Tam also had two hits. 

Braxton Thomas, a senior baseball player for Central Catholic, helped lead his team to a CIF Northern California Division 3 championship. In a first-round 10-4 win over Colusa, he went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a homer and six RBI. 

Hank Tripaldi, a junior third baseman for De La Salle's baseball team, went 3 for 6 with two homers and six RBI in a wild and emotional 11-8 win at Valley Christian for the CIF Northern California Division 1 title game. Tripaldi hit a grand slam with two out in the seventh inning wiping out an 8-7 deficit and capping a six-run rally. He hit it for his late mother Robin who passed in April due to breast cancer.

Ayla Tuufa, a freshman pitcher for Capital Christian-Sacramento, threw a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts in a 6-1 win over Orestimba for the CIF Northern California Division 4 championship. Tuufa also had a double and triple at the plate and two RBI. 

Brady Wickum, a sophomore baseball team for Sutter, had two hits and three RBI in a 10-1 over Gridley for the CIF Northern California Division 4 baseball championship. 

Logan Yacavace, a standout on the Sutter baseball team, pitched a five-hitter with six strikeouts in a 10-1 win over Gridley for the CIF Northern California Division 4 baseball championship. Yacavace also had two RBI at the plate.
