California football recruiting: Clovis West duo Marshel Sanders, Landon Wright to take center stage Friday

Pair of all-around athletes will make announcement jointly in Fresno; Oregon State, Fresno State appear the lucky winners

Two of California's top all-around football athletes — planted in the middle of the state — will announce their college choices at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Marshel Sanders, ranked the No.  66 top overall senior recruit in the Golden State, and Landon Wright, ranked No. 83, will announce their choices in a joint ceremony.

The Clovis West teammates are game-breakers.

Sanders, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver and safety, had 60 catches for 1,098 yards and 14 touchdowns, all team highs last season for the 10-2 Golden Eagles.

He has 12 offers, but most think he'll pick Oregon State over Arizona State, Cal, Washington and Fresno State.

Wright, a 6-1, 185-pound receiver and cornerback, had 42 catches for 776 yards and eight touchdowns. He has six offers, but appears to be leaning toward Fresno State. Washington State, a place he visited on June 16, is another strong suitor.

The duo are the top two recruits from the Central Section, just ahead of Buchanan linebacker Logan Studt, who ranks No. 84 in the state.

More scheduled commitments this weekend: Another top all-around athlete Lamar Radcliffe, of Sacramento, will announce his commitment on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. local time and St. John Bosco's Kyngstonn Villiamu-Asa, a four-star linebacker, plans to announce at 1:07 p.m. Sunday. Notre Dame, Ohio State and USC are among his front-runners, according to 247Sports.

Latest California commitments since Friday: A trio of 3-star recruits committed last week —

  • St. John Bosco LB Ashtin Kekahuna-Lopes (6-3, 215) to Utah
  • Orange Vista (Perris) athlete Sire Gaines (6-0, 193) to Arizona State
  • Orange Vista cornerback Anthony Hymes (5-11, 160)  to San Jose State
