SBLive CIF Southern Section Top 25 football rankings, Aug. 20

Here are the updated Top 25 high school football rankings in the Southern Section as of Aug. 20 heading into Week 1.

Week 0 has come and gone. Long Beach Poly and Orange Lutheran rise.  Sierra Canyon, Serra Gardena and Santa Margarita drop. San Clemente, Oxnard Pacifica and Valencia join the fold.

3. Corona Centennial (0-1): The Huskies were within a touchdown of No. 1 Mater Dei with four minutes to play, proving they belong; vs. Santa Margarita; No. 3 –

4. Long Beach Poly (1-0): The Jackrabbits beat Konawaena in Hawaii 60-28; vs. Bishop Gorman (NV); No. 7 ↑

5. Orange Lutheran (1-0): The Lancers thumped Serra Gardena 47-19. QB TJ Lateef impressed; at Concord De La Salle; No. 8 ↑

6. Sierra Canyon (1-0): The Trailblazers beat JSerra 9-7; at Oaks Chrisitan; No. 34 ↓

7. Mission Viejo (1-0): The Diablos took down El Camino High 38-13; at Citrus Valley; No. 5 ↓

8. Oaks Christian (1-0): The Lions routed Chaminade 55-28; vs. Sierra Canyon; No. 10 ↑

9. Los Alamitos (1-0): The Griffins beat Western 63-24. Alonzo Esparza threw three TDs; vs. La Serna at Veterans Stadium; No. 13 ↑

10. Rancho Cucamonga (1-0): The Cougars edged a good Murrieta Valley team 29-27; at Servite; No. 11 ↑

11. JSerra Catholic (0-1): The Lions fell in a defensive toss up at Sierra Canyon; vs. Aquinas; No. 12 ↑

12. Santa Margarita (1-0): The Eagles beat Salt Lake City West 28-27; vs. Corona Centennial; No. 9 ↓

13. Serra Gardena (0-1): The Cavs had a surprisingly underwhelming Week 0 game, falling big to Orange Lutheran; at Warren; No. 6 ↓

14. Warren (1-0): Junior QB Madden Iamaleava gets win No. 1 as the perennial starter, topping Pago Pago (American Samoa) Tafuna, 29-13; vs. Gardena Serra; No. 15 ↑

15: San Clemente (1-0): The Tritons topped Chaparral 20-10. QB Dylan Mills threw for 204 yards, 2 TDs and no INTs; at San Diego Torrey Pines; Unranked ↑

16. St. Bonaventure (1-0): The Seraphs blew out Alemany 40-16; at Oxnard Pacifica; No. 17 ↑

24. Chaparral (0-1): The Pumas drop their opener to a good San Clemente team, 20-10; vs. Apple Valley; No. 16 ↓

25. Newbury Park (1-0): QB Brady Smigiel threw four TDs to twin brother Beau Smigiel in a 59-49 win over Golden Valley; vs. Bakersfield Centennial; No. 25 –
