Highlights: Helix beats Red Mountain 30-22 at 2023 Honor Bowl

Helix has opened the season with three straight wins over out of section opponents

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - Helix moved to 3-0 on Saturday, beating Red Mountain (AZ) 30-22 in the fourth of five games at this weekend's Honor Bowl.

The Highlanders jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first half before Red Mountain was able to score on each of their possessions surrounding halftime. Helix quarterback and four-year starter Ryland Jessee briefly left the game before returning in the second half.

Jessee helped the Highlanders seal the game with a 17-yard touchdown completion to Gordon Meredith that gave Helix a 30-14 lead in the closing minutes.

Helix senior two-way player Kevin Allen III was named MVP of the game after finishing with a rushing touchdown, a fumble recovery for a touchdown and a vicious sack off the edge in the second half.

Red Mountain was led by junior quarterback Simon Lopez, who pulled the Mountain Lions to within seven points with a 64-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
