Photos: Jesuit 41, Christian Brothers 8 in 52nd Holy Bowl before 15,000 fans in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO — It's much more than a football game when Jesuit of Carmichael and Christian Brothers from Sacramento meet.
More than 15,000 fans gather annually at Hughes Stadium on the campus of Sacramento City College because of the rich history, pageantry and school spirit on display in a game tagged "The Holy Bowl."
On Saturday night, Jesuit raced to leads of 27-0 at halftime and 41-0 after three en route to a 41-8 victory to claim the heated rivalry game for the 17th time in the last 20 outings.
CJ Lee threw a 68-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Dixon early to to Jesuit rolling. Lee added a 44-yard TD run, Drew Vassar added rushed for touchdowns of 32 and 7 yards, Dixon contributed a 99-yard kickoff return for score and Johnnie Brannon finished off the scoring for the Marauders (2-1) with a 32-yard run.
A 26-yard scoring pass from Shawn Underwood to Adrian Davis helped Christian Brothers (2-2) to avoid the shutout.
