Los Angeles City Section football Top 10 rankings as of Sept. 18, heading into Week 5.
1. Birmingham (3-1)
The Patriots are off a bye week in preparation for a game out of state in Texas on Friday night against Steele High.

2. Garfield (4-1)
The Bulldogs won 70-14 over South Gate. QB Dominic Vasquez threw four TDs on just 6 of 8 passing. He also ran for a touchdown. Paul Ramos had an interception return for a touchdown.

3. Carson (5-0)
Kameryn Hurst ran for 161 yards and two scores in the Colts' 56-16 win over Hamilton Friday afternoon.

4. Granada Hills (3-1-1)
Darrell Stanley rushed for 152 yards and two TDs in a 30-12 win over Dorsey. He also passed for a touchdown. The Highlanders have a bye week before a showdown with Birmingham Charter in their West Valley League opener.

5. San Pedro (2-2)
The Pirates thump Eagles Rock 54-7 thanks to the play of QB Marcus Jeronymo (four TDs) and WR Elias Redlew (three TDs).

6. Palisades (3-1)
The Dolphins are coming off a bye week and will take on Brentwood in what will be a step-up game for Palisades. However, a game against Brentwood will prep the Dolphins well for Western League play.

7. Dymally (4-0)
Dymally hosting San Pedro will be the City Section Game of the Week. Dymally's wins over Buena and Taft were feathers in the cap, but the true litmus test will come against the Pirates on Friday.

8. Narbonne (3-2)
The Gauchos beat El Camino Real 44-0 and have now won two straight games. Narbonne is trending upward led by Mark Iheanachor Jr., a two-way player at running back and linebacker.

9. Banning (2-3)
The Pilots continue to test themselves against formidable CIF Southern Section opponents. This past week it was a very good Palos Verdes (5-0) team that beat Banning 49-18. Don't be surprised to see Banning climb these rankings with league play begins.

10. Franklin (2-2-1)
The Panthers fall to Schurr 21-20. Another example of a City Section program taking on Southern Section schools to better its players.

10. Cleveland (4-1)
The Cavs bounce back from a stunning loss to Hamilton two weeks ago with a 34-13 win over Westchester. Donovan Powell rushed for 146 yards and a TD. Kory Hall caught four balls for 115 yards and a score.
