Look: De La Salle's Drew Cunningham, Justin Alumbaugh talk about big win over Folsom

The Spartans are nearly giddy after an old-school 14-7 win over their new Northern California rival

FOLSOM, CALIFORNIA — There was no disguising the joy and pride De La Salle football coach Justin Alumbaugh and two-way standout Drew Cunningham after the Spartans' 14-7 win at Folsom

The game pitted two of the top teams in California — Folsom entered No. 15 in the SBLive California rankings and De La Salle was No. 24 — and the the Spartans' ball-control offense and defense was at the forefront of the victory. 

Cunningham, a vivacious, earnest and clear 6-foot-4, 225-pound senior, spoke to his team's mindset to carry out the game plan. Alumbaugh talked about DLS' change over the last three weeks after opening the season with two defeats, its special teams, defense and the play and leadership of Cunningham, calling him a true "Spartan."
