California high school football recruiting notebook: Murrieta Valley's Bear Bachmeier continues to rise
Class of 2025 quarterback Bear Bachmeier led Murrieta Valley to a 39-38 victory over previously unbeaten San Clemente last Friday. He showcased his ability to fit passes in tight windows and used a powerful stiff arm to move a defensive back out of the way during a second quarter touchdown run.
After dropping their season opener, the Nighthawks have won four straight including Friday's win. Bachmeier has thrown for 982 yards and 10 touchdowns during that stretch.
He's added nearly 15 offers since the end of his sophomore season and continues to do his due diligence in his recruitment. Bachmeier took an unofficial visit to Notre Dame earlier this month after picking up an offer from the Irish during the summer. Following Friday's game, he mentioned Michigan and Texas A&M as schools that he'd like to visit during the season and said that he likes Stanford and Oregon as well.
His brother Hank is finishing up his collegiate career at Louisiana Tech after starting 29 games for Boise State. His other brother Tiger is a freshman wide receiver at Stanford.
Nasir Wyatt cuts list
Mater Dei junior linebacker Nasir Wyatt, one of the nation's best defenders, cut his list to eight schools on Wednesday.
Making the cut on Wyatt's list are Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and USC.
Playing for the nation's top high school team, Wyatt has four sacks and two fumble recoveries through three games this season. He has 18 career sacks in 21 career varsity games.
Brandon Lockhart returns to Oregon
Many of California's top prospects made their way to Oregon last week as the Ducks hosted Colorado in the Pac-12 opener for both teams.
Among the group was 2026 five-star defensive back Brandon Lockhart of Loyola.
David Abajian opens up recruitment
David Abajian, a three-star senior offensive lineman at Chaminade, announced on social media Wednesday that he has decommitted from Oregon State.
Abajian took official visits to Oregon State, Cal and Kansas in the summer before announcing his commitment to the Beavers on July 4.
He's helped the Eagles to a 3-2 start this season while the team has averaged over seven yards per rush attempt. They'll open Mission League play this week with a trip to Gardena Serra.
