California high school football recruiting notebook: Aydin Breland closing in on commitment
All eyes on Mater Dei and St. John Bosco
Mater Dei and St. John Bosco, Trinity League rivals and two of the nation's best football teams, will renew their rivalry on Friday night.
The two teams feature two of the most talented rosters in the country. 18 players from the two teams have announced their college commitments while more than 70 players between the two teams have received at least one FBS scholarship offer.
Atop the list of players in the game who have yet to make their college intentions known is Mater Dei senior defensive lineman Aydin Breland. The five-star recruit will announce his decision on Saturday, choosing between Georgia, Oregon and Miami.
Washington set for big weekend
Seattle, Washington will be the epicenter of the college football world this Saturday when the Huskies host Oregon in a top 10 battle between unbeaten teams.
Washington will use this weekend to showcase their campus and program to recruits including many of California's best.
Two of California's top uncommitted defensive linemen, Jericho Johnson and Isaiah Inge, will be in attendance. Johnson has 25 tackles, four sacks and two pass break ups for Armijo this season during their 6-1 start.

Inge has had a breakout senior season for Buchanan that included receiving an offer from Purdue earlier this week.
Washington's 2024 recruiting class currently includes nine commitments from California prospects including St. John Bosco linebacker Khmori House. House will be back in Washington to visit his future school after taking on Mater Dei on Friday night. Joining House on the visit will be his teammate at Bosco, sophomore standout receiver Madden Williams.
Also in attendance at Washington will be Corona Centennial junior quarterback Husan Longstreet.

San Diego State decommitments continue
Shortly after the decommitment of Rancho Cucamonga standout Stacy Bey from San Diego State last week, Rahim Wright and Terrell Cooks Jr. followed suit.
Wright, a defensive back and teammate of Bey's at Rancho Cucamonga, leads the Cougars in tackles this season with 64. He also has an interception and three forced fumbles.
Wright and Bey had recently made their way out to visit the University of Arizona. Upon return, the duo both decommitted from the Aztecs, flipping their commitments to the Wildcats.
Cooks Jr. had nearly 1,500 all-purpose yards in 2022 as a junior for Sierra Canyon before committing to the Aztecs in April. As a senior, he's averaging 10 yards per carry, 17 yards per reception and has scored six touchdowns in seven games for the unbeaten Trailblazers.
