Top 20 recruits in Mater Dei-St. John Bosco showdown
Mater Dei and St. John Bosco will take the field on Friday night in the latest chapter of what has become one of the nation's top rivalry games.
The Monarchs and Braves feature two of the nation's most talented rosters. The two rosters combine to have more than 70 players with at least one FBS scholarship offers. 18 players in Friday's game have already made their college commitments while many more will do so in the coming months.
Here are top 20 recruits to watch in Friday's game and how they've fared in their high school careers.
Aydin Breland, 2024 DL
Breland is the nation's top uncommitted player in the senior class. He'll announce his college decision on Saturday, one day after taking on rival St. John Bosco.
Brandon Baker, 2024 OL
Baker is in his third season as Mater Dei's right tackle. Ranked as the nation's top offensive tackle by 247Sports, Baker committed to Texas over a group that included Georgia, Ohio State and Oregon.
Zabien Brown, 2024 DB
Brown has been a four-year varsity player for the Monarchs, totaling six interceptions and 16 pass breakups. He committed to Alabama in July, choosing the Crimson Tide over USC and Ohio State.
DeAndre Carter, 2024 OL
Carter has held down the left tackle spot opposite of Baker for the past three seasons. He committed to Auburn in September but recently took an official visit to Texas.
Elijah Brown, 2024 QB
Brown is one of the nation's most experienced quarterbacks, having played in 37 games during his four years at Mater Dei. The Stanford commit has thrown for more than 8,000 yards and recently surpassed 100 touchdown passes for his career.
Nate Frazier, 2024 RB
Frazier scored eight times on the ground last season and is averaging eight yards per carry this season for the unbeaten Monarchs. He committed to Georgia in August, choosing the Bulldogs over Alabama, Oregon and Texas A&M.
Nasir Wyatt, 2025 LB
California's top ranked recruit in the junior class, Wyatt broke out with 13 sacks last season. He's added six sacks and four pass breakups so far this season while offers from more than 20 schools have flown in.
Daryus Dixson, 2025 DB
Dixson has played in 28 games during his three varsity seasons for the Monarchs. During that time, he's picked off six passes and has 15 pass breakups. Ohio State, Texas and Notre Dame are among his 20 scholarship offers.
Jordon Davison, 2025 RB
Davison rushed for 1,500 yards and 17 touchdowns last season and has now found the end zone 29 times across three varsity seasons. He's reeled in 50 scholarship offers from the likes of Alabama, Georgia and Texas.
Marcus Harris, 2025 WR
Harris caught 25 passes as a sophomore, finishing with 12 touchdown receptions. In seven games this year, he's totaled 245 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Recent scholarship offers include Michigan State, Florida and Oklahoma.
Chuck McDonald, 2025 DB
McDonald made his debut for the Monarchs as a freshman and has now played in 20 games over the past two years, grabbing an interception and breaking up nine passes. Stanford, UCLA and Tennessee are his three most recent offers.
Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, 2026 WR
After catching four passes as a freshman, Dixon-Wyatt has stepped up as a sophomore. In seven games, he's reeled in five touchdown passes and is averaging 19 yards per catch. Washington and Texas A&M are the recent schools that have extended offers.
Marcelles Williams, 2024 DB
Williams played four games for the Braves as a freshman before becoming a mainstay in the defensive backfield. The USC commit has four interceptions and 13 pass breakups over the past three seasons.
Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, 2024 LB
Viliamu-Asa missed his sophomore season with a knee injury but has bounced back to become one of the nation's top linebacker prospects. The Notre Dame commit is closing in on 200 career tackles to go with eight sacks and two interceptions.
Peyton Woodyard, 2024 DB
Woodyard, a four-year varsity player, has 146 tackles, three interceptions and 10 pass breakups during his career. He initially committed to Georgia before flipping his pledge to Alabama in August.
Jason Mitchell, 2024 DB
Mitchell has played in two games for the Braves after transferring in from Gardena Serra. The four-star recruit played on both sides of the ball at Serra and is diving back into his recruitment now that he's on the field for the Braves.
Tay Lockett, 2026 DB
Lockett had 92 tackles, seven interceptions and three forced fumbles during his freshman season at University City in San Diego that led to offers from schools across the country. The Arkansas commit has grabbed four interceptions for the Braves this year.
Madden Williams, 2026 WR
Williams is second on the Braves in receptions with 30 through seven games. Has has 355 yards and three touchdowns and counts Georgia, Texas and Oregon among the nearly 20 scholarship offers that have come in.
Daniel Odom, 2026 WR
After grabbing six receptions as a freshman, Odom has taken a big step forward as a sophomore. He has 23 catches for 370 yards and five touchdowns leading to offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Washington and others.
Dutch Horisk, 2026 LB
Horisk played eight games for the Braves as a freshman and has 45 tackles and seven sacks so far this season. Oklahoma and Utah are the most recent schools to extend offers to Horisk.
