California Top 25 high school football rankings by SBLive/Sports Illustrated (10/16/2023)

With stunning lopsided win over previous No. 1 Mater Dei, St. John Bosco moves into the top spot; San Clemente jumps seven spots with big win over Mission Viejo

Very little movement in the SBLive California Top 25 high school football rankings. However there was one big flip as previous No. 2 St. John Bosco flipped with No. 1 Mater Dei after a 28-0 win at a Panish Famil Stadium on Friday.

The same thing happened last season when Mater Dei beat then national No. 1 St. John Bosco, 17-7.

At the end of the season, SJB got revenge and earned back the top spot. Will that script be flipped in six weeks when the two teams will likely face off again for the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 championship.

That game it was announced this morning will be played at the L.A. Coliseum, which is celebrating its 100th season.

The biggest mover this week in the rankings was San Clemente, which climbed seven spots to No. 14 following a 20-10 win over then No. 10 Mission Viejo.
